Sleep Apnea
Sleep Apnea
Sleep apnea is a disorder one suffers from during sleep in which breathing stops intermittently. At times, when with a clinical diagnosis, an episode does not result in a complete cessation of breathing. This causes destruction to the whole or severely depriving oxygen and, thus, the body with sleep quality. Kateb Medical is diagnosing and effectively managing obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and other sleep-related breathing problems through home-based sleep studies and enhanced laboratory testing services when indicated. Symptoms of loud snoring, constant fatigue, excess sleepiness, and morning headaches can significantly affect the quality of life and the incidence of hypertension, diabetes, and heart diseases.
Lifestyle changes, positional therapy, or the use of CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) machines to keep the airways open during the night are options for treatment. We also assess the coexistence of obesity, asthma, or pulmonary hypertension, which aggravates sleep apnea. When not treated, this condition leads to cognitive deterioration, depression, and further lung function reduction, mainly in patients with COPD, sarcoidosis, and interstitial lung disease. At Kateb Medical, we focus on restoring sleep, enhancing oxygenation, and improving health through sleep medicine treatment.
